The BlackBerry 8900 Curve has become one of the most iconic Blackberry models to date. New BlackBerrys generally do not differ from their predecessors a huge amount, but offer an improvement on the previous model without “rocking the boat” so much as to ruin the feel of the phone and that is exactly what the 8900 does. It looks good and on a base level has everything you would come to expect from a BlackBerry like a reliable contact management system and full qwerty keyboard.

There are all of the usual features you would expect from a BlackBerry including fast and simple connectivity not only to social networks, such as Facebook and Twitter, but also to your emails and office work. Although there is no 3G connectivity the 8900 is the first in the Curve Range to have both GPS and Wi-Fi included in a single handset.

There is of course a simple media player a camera but the handset has no radio and the camera is relatively basic. The screen itself is 4:3 which means that if you are looking to play almost any video content you can expect letterboxing which will dramatically reduce the viewable screen size.

The BlackBerry 8900 Curve therefore is not the handset if you are looking for a cutting edge Smartphone but is a great upgrade for business users who already use and love the traditional BlackBerry Range.

The Blackberry is extremely user-friendly, in fact almost idiot-proof! Your granny would have no trouble with it if you gave her a pointer to select one of the Qwerty keyboard's mini keys. The whole yes/no set by step process is well thought out. The viewing window is clear and numbers/letters are easy to read. A child aged 7 in my class picked it up to ring home after a club. he didn't need telling what to do although he had never used a Blackberry before. It was in demand by many passengers on our stranded plane in China during the ash cloud crisis, due to its ability to roam worldwide and still get a very clear reception. I love it, and I've never said that about a mobile phone before!
