Our view:
The HTC Desire is the most popular phone of the year! (2010) That's quite an achievement! With the ever growing popularity of smart phones, this is another great addition to add to the HTC range. The phone runs on an Android operating system, has an amazing touch screen display and an optical track pad.
The Desire weighs in at just 135 grams a few grams less than the Apple iPhone 4. The amazing AMOLED touch screen is a huge 3.7 inches! Perfect for multimedia applications such as web browsing, streaming videos though channels like YouTube and reviewing those amazing pictures you took on the amazing 5 mega pixel camera! There is plenty of room to store all your multimedia as the phone has the ability to have a whopping 36GB of memory with the use of a microSD memory card. ...

The Desire also features geo-tagging allowing you to tag the exact location of the pictures you have snapped. An FM Radio and GPS technology helping you get from A to B! There is also a MP3 Player capable of playing most formats of music and Social media applications such as Facebook, Flickr and Twitter. The HTC Desire is available in Black, Brown, Silver or White.

This phone is just about the maximum size of smartphone I would consider. Any bigger and I wouldn't be able to carry it as easily as I can. The screen is bright in all but bright direct sunlight. Camera is very usable but could do with a lens cover as mine has now scratched. Battery life is the only thing that really lets this phone down. Otherwise a great phone which I've become more and more reliant on the longer I've owned it.

Great phone, great applications, fabulous SD card, but the phone memory is rubbish which means it gets full very quickly, even with the ability to install an SD card, phone memory still needs to have free space before it can be moved.

Great phone! It is so easy to use, great free & paid applications available to download, overall the best phone I've ever had. Easy for children to use also with great applications for kids.

Excellent phone with a 1ghz processor which easily handles all your smartphone networking needs, with the smooth HTC sense friend stream which simply displays all your social networking accounts all in one feed. Handles games beautifully, and is a major rival to the iPhone. As of now, the 2.2 android update has included 720p video recording for the camera, so now it is high definition!

I love this phone! But the battery life needs to be better and it is always running out of space as I have too many applications!
Definitely recommend it though - it sorts out my life!

The best phone I have ever owned! easy to use, great applications from the app store and perfect design. Very fast and responsive. I would certainly recommend anyone to get one of these. The HTC Sense is a great feature and I personally love the weather icons like the rain drops on the screen and the windscreen wiper coming across. A nice quirky feature :)

I was a little daunted when I received my new phone, being my first smart phone, I was expecting to be a little confused by it. But the Desire by HTC turned out to be extremely intuitive and easy to use.
It's wonderfully customizable and the way it links all your contacts (email, facebook, twitter etc) is marvellous!
When making calls the screen turns off, I imagine to prevent accidentally hanging up. I actually found this very annoying. As the screen touch is quite sensitive, I have found myself on occasions, accidentally calling people and then fumbling embarrassingly trying to hang up and not being able to! Frustrating. I love this phone and I am sure the newer Desire phones and other HTC devices are great too.
I recommend this phone. Go out and get one now!

Excellent android smartphone from the increasingly well regarded HTC table. Forming the template for HTC's later, more powerful smartphone range, the Desire has a bright OLED, touch sensitive, responsive screen and uses HTC's proprietary Sense front end which includes some nice additions to the standard Android platform. A comprehensive range of apps can easily be accessed from the Android Marketplace and the standard memory can be enhanced by adding an SD card upto 32Gb in size. The only slight downside, as with all smartphones is the battery life is little more than a day with a reasonable amount of use. Overall an excellent smartphone.

Cannot get music from the memory card on to the phone unless you connect to a p.c to transfer over.

Its a lovely phone. Great screen size, easy to use. Only down fall is the battery life isn't very good and text message alerts are very quiet. Ring volume does go loud which is great so you can hear it. Great phone!

This phone is brilliant! It has a great camera with a high resolution fast touch screen, a great optical button and is very sturdy. I would definitely recommend this phone, sorry not very technical but even I can use it.

The HTC Desire is excellent! My previous phone was a Nokia 5800 which was slow and unresponsive. The Desire has a nice bright screen with intuitive OS. I have been very happy with this phone and it will be hard to replace.

This is a great phone it’s easy to use, has great access to a range of very good apps, internet, etc. The most popular apps are already installed. The only one thing I would say is you can't block phone numbers and when deleting messages it does crash sometimes. But you can do loads on this phone and I can do so much on it I don't even use a computer anymore!
Amazing!

When I initially got this phone I thought it was amazing, but 6 months on and the screen has lost sensitivity which is highly annoying. This is a great cheap version if you're looking for something to check Facebook updates, internet, etc but overall I would go for something else next time round. Sorry HTC.

Had this phone for the best part of 2 years and it's still going strong. It's a great all rounder. Good call quality, decent camera, and gorgeous sense interface.
I like the open nature of android operating system. I can set my phone up exactly how I want. All in all, a great phone.

It is a powerful phone with a myriad of features. It's fast and easy to use, and the fact that it is has a fully customizable interface is brilliant too. The only real negative is the battery life, although you can minimise battery drain by tweaking your settings.

I was undecided between an iPhone and the HTC Desire S. I am happy I went with the HTC as its fun and easy to use. It's easy to access Facebook, Twitter and any other applications you use, the windscreen wipers of the weather application sold the phone to one of my friends. I think I've only scraped the surface of what the HTC can do, but I look forward to finding out.

There was a long waiting list when I got this phone and whilst it functions well, I am not sure why the interest. It has a short battery life if hooked up to the internet and the screen scratched straight away so can't read the content sometimes. Fairly easy to use and set up but not as good as I thought it would be.

I bought this phone when it first came out and it has been fantastic. Now, nearly two years on, it still serves me fairly well for what I need it for. It won't be getting the newest version of Android, which for me means that I will probably be trading it in when I come to the end of my contract. I've dropped this phone hundreds of times and it's still fine! So, it's fairly hardy. One of my main gripes is that it doesn't have much internal phone storage, which means I can't download as many apps as I would like to.
It is really good for being able to check emails, Facebook, Twitter, Google + etc. Looks nice, is light, aesthetically pleasing and very customisable. A really good phone.
